ABOUT
The Global Media and Democracy Association (GMDA) is an international association for professional purposes in the field of global media studies and practice. The GMDA is committed to providing an interdisciplinary forum where media scholars, media partitioners, and media activists can explore and discuss the intersections amongst global media, culture, politics, and democracy across multiple institutional and geographical locations. Its main goal is create and promote a robust community of global media studies practitioners, scholars, and activists and to give its membership access to a large body of useful knowledge and to a variety of professional development opportunities and resources. Our members come from all over the world.
Each year, the GMDA holds an international annual meeting. As with other professional organizations, the annual conference provides the membership an opportunity to meet and network with other global media professionals and journalists, introduce junior members to the wider professional community, and share and discuss current efforts in global media research and practice. Unlike other professional organizations, the GMDA seeks to bring together media scholars, media practitioners, and media activists to share robust knowledge and experience and to address timely issues around media, globalization, politics and democracy.
